This is the sakadaru, the traditional Japanese big wooden tub for sake, covered with a strow sheet like the tatami surface and tied with natural raw rope, with writing of the brewey, in this case the Yamatogawa sake factory of Kitakata, Fukushima prefecture, the sake is really excellent. This sakadaru is left outside the brewery as sign. Photo taken in bright sunlight and it was still snowing, 85 mm. lens.
