A rite of passage
On our arrival in Japan, the first task was to go and visit Yoyogi Hachiman jinja, a little nice temple in Tokyo, we manage to get there at sunset and the light was low, but the mood was really paceful and intimate and there was underway the preparation of new year festivity, is a rite of passage. This big straw circle is called shimenawa (enclosing rope). People walk through the circle to purify themself to start the new year.
